Well summer is upon us and with summer comes lots of music. Which I must say this is my favorite part of summer since music is my passion.
I've already attended a few shows and they were wonderful.
There was quite a few fails going on that night at the club. Tiger print skin tight pants, huge boob shot girl, too many old people dressed inappropriately. Made for an interesting night.
Scooter Brown Band put a good show. I had never seen them before and I have to say I liked what I heard.
After some down time between bands, EYB went on stage and it was very reminiscent of the days when I first started going to their shows. Jon played with no shoes, the band was a bit drunk, and his family was hanging out next to me and Natalie. Minus the dumb bimbos that accompany all shows now, I enjoyed the set they put on.
Overall, it was a good night.
I would like to see SBB again in the future, so I guess I'll have to find a show that fits into my busy summer music schedule.

EYB + Scooter Brown Band at Tumbleweed Texas May 9th
The venue was WAY up on the NW side of town, thankfully I went with a girlfriend who knew the area. The show was sold out through advance sales, which I thought was pretty damn awesome. Prior to the actual show EYB put on a full band acoustic set for the radio station sponsoring the event. I only caught the end of it, but what I heard was great. There was quite a few fails going on that night at the club. This was a very memorable night for so many reasons. I went with the intention of having at least a strawberry funnel cake, strawberry shortcake and a lot of beer to go with my Texas country. The beer happened, the strawberry goodness did not.Aaron Watson & Wade Bowen Pasadena Strawberry Festival May 16th
We got there about 6ish, spent sometime walking around, had a bit of food, and finally decided to watch Jaime Richards while we waited for AW & WB.
This is where it started to get fun.
As I was looking for an empty table, my sister stopped me. My ex-fiance, the abuser, was there with his flavor of the month. (Gag me please.)
And as if it couldn't get any better than that, the heavens opened up and it started pouring down rain. We took over some family's table with a umbrella until the rain finally came to an end.
The whole time jackass and his girl were acting like it was 8th grade, pointing, whispering, giggling, and being dumb.
Being the adult in the situation, I let it all roll off my back because I wasn't there to deal with idiots, I was there for the music and the strawberries.
So once the rain subsided we moved towards the front, had some more beer and waited for Mr. Watson to take the stage.
I have never seen AW live, but I do enjoy his music. I was not let down one bit. His set was by far one of the best live sets I have seen in a while. I am hoping to put him into the rotation for the summer as well.
In the middle of the set I decided to see about getting a shirt from the AW merch table. As I went in the direction I met one of my fellow GW music lovers.
It was nice to meet you Neal! I look forward to seeing you at plenty more shows this summer!
Then it was time for WB. Holy Hell.
Keep in mind this was an all ages show. So there were plenty of minors. And lots of them were drinking.
We ended up making friends with this group of kids in front of us, all of pissed by the jackasses off to our left who were spilling beer all over everyone, talking shit, and shoving people.
Basically, just being as dumb as it gets.
During the set I ventured again to the merch table since the crowd had gone down and bought myself a shirt, had it autographed, met Mr. Watson who is a really nice guy I might add.
And then I saw a shirt I had to own.
Wade Bowen has a shirt with a pumpjack on it, and being the nerd I am I bought it.
After returning to the show it was about halfway through and things started to get a bit out of hand, and somehow some bimbo got involved who claimed to have slept with a guy in the band.
PSA MEMO - SLEEPING WITH A GUY IN A BAND DOES NOT MAKE YOU A BADASS. FURTHER MORE, ANNOUNCING THIS TO THE WORLD ONLY MAKES YOU A SLUT.
So some event volunteers came over, and instead of kicking our new friends out they simply said lets just go to the other side of the stage. We went with because quite frankly, I was tired of the stupidity.
Well this ended up not being a good choice. There was even more redneck stupidity on the other side. I had some woman bitching at me because her babies couldn't see. As I tried to make room for her babies a fight started because of our group being put where we were.
As it started to get really out of hand, I decided I had enough and called it a night. I wasn't going to have my sister or myself get caught up in the middle of something like that and end up hurt. Not worth it.
What I was able to enjoy, was pretty good. However, I am looking forward to the "Hold My Beer & Watch This III" stop in Nac in a few weeks. I hope the crowd will be less ignorant and more respectful of the music.
I definitely think I am going to avoid the all ages shows, they never seem to go well. There is more drama at those shows than on a soap opera which I don't understand.
It's about the music and having a good time. Respect your fellow music lovers and don't commit alcohol abuse by spilling your drink on people.
There is no need to shove, elbow, or talk shit to others. And if you're gonna fight, take that shit outside or to the parking lot. Innocent bystanders don't need to get hurt because you can't handle your liquor.
And please ladies, stop talking about getting on the bus and who you would screw, or who you have. No one needs to know that, promise.
So here's to the summer and the good music it brings!
