So this weekend was pretty low key. Just kind of chilled at home, had a lot of time to get lost in deep thought.
Dangerous.
A friend of mine is getting married soon and I just now found out she met her soon to be husband via internet dating.
Until now, it's always been an urban legend. The one that goes "My friend's mom's cousin's sister-in-law's brother met his wife on (insert dating site here.)"
Most of our society looks at internet dating like we see the flu.
Avoid at all costs.
I personally have irrational fears that should I attempt it that I will meet a serial killer and get chopped up into a million little pieces. (I know I am not the only one who thinks like this...)
But she's happy, and they make a good couple. So for her it worked.
Anyway, this got me to thinking.
I frequent GW and I would love to meet a lot of people I have friended through there. How different is that really?
I've done the normal ways. Met guys through school, work, friends and social events.
Why not try the internet world and see what I get? As long as I don't get raped, mauled, or cut up into a million little pieces I couldn't do any worse than I already have.
I have earned the broken heart badge many times over.
So since I am jumping in, both feet first, to this internet world as a possibility I guess I dropped my guard some.
A guy I chat with a lot via one networking site (not internet dating related) and I have started talking much more.
And I am intrigued.
I guess this is how my friend got hooked, so I guess I should be open to the possibility.
Just didn't think I'd get a chance to try my new venture so soon...
In unrelated news - I would like to pass on the word to save the sea kittens.
